Week 8's Challenge (LMS)

Dear all, I have added some model drawings, tables and hints.

1) Josiah took 1 h 10 min to do his English homework.
He took 1/5 hour less to do his Science homework.
How long did he take to finish both of his homework?
Express the answer in minutes.

2) Mr Ang had some sweets.
If he had given each pupil 2 sweets, he would have 70 sweets left over.
If he had given each pupil 4 sweets, he would need another 10 more sweets.
How many pupils are there in the class?

3) Mrs Tan made a profit of 50 cents for each cake she sold.
For every 20 cakes sold, she would get additional $4 from his employer.
How much money did she earn if she sold 336 cakes?

Hint1: You might need to create a table; make a list.
Hint 2: How many groups of 20 cakes are there in 336 cakes?

4) Mary earned $2 for each racket she sold.
She earned an extra $12 for every 25 rackets sold.
How many rackets must she sell in order to make $232?

Hint: Create a table; Make a list, and be sure to add $12 for every 25 rackets sold!

5) Michael had a salary of $900.
He saved 1/3 of his salary whereas his sister, Susan saved 3/4 of her salary.
If they saved the same amount of money, how much salary had Susan?
