P4 Science Practical Assessment

All of you will be taking the Science Practical Assessment (SA2) next week.
The details are as below:

Venue: Hall

Station 1: Plant parts (Observing, Comparing, Classifying)
Station 2: Plant parts (Using apparatus and equipment, Observing, Comparing)
Station 3: Matter (Using apparatus and equipment, measuring)
Station 4: Magnet (Using apparatus and equipment, observing, evaluating)


Number of stations: 4
Time given for each station: 5 minutes

Week 6's Challenge (LMS)

Dear all,

Week 6's daily challenge is up!
You will be able to attempt on it at the LMS on coming Monday.
Closing date will be next Sunday. :)

Below are the questions:

1) In a car park, there are 72 cars and motorcycles.
Altogether, 256 wheels are counted.
How many cars are there in the car park?

2) The sum of two numbers is 100.
The difference between the two numbers is 44.
What is the bigger number?

3) Sue, Tim and John weigh 124kg.
Sue weighs 16 kg heavier than Tim.
John’s mass is double of Sue’s mass.
Find the total mass of John and Tim.

4) Bob has 10 coins that add up to $3.20.
Some are 50-cent coins and the rest are 20-cent coins.
How many 20-cent coins does Bob have?

5) Mindy went to the Bakery shop to buy cakes and donuts.
She spent $14 altogether to buy 30 cakes and donuts.
Each cake cost 40 cents and each donut cost 50 cents.
How many more donuts than cakes did she buy?

Daily Math Challenge at the LMS - Week 5

Dear all,

I will be posting the 5 questions for week 5 here.

As I am not able to set the system to have only 1 question a day, you will have 5 questions for the whole week.

Please attempt all the questions first before logging into the LMS to key in the answers.

Do take note, you have only one attempt on the challenge.
Hence, please be more careful in your work; avoid careless mistake.

There will be a point system for this and each correct answer is worth 5 points!
The top 3 pupils to get the highest points at the end of Term 3 will get a prize each!

1) When a number is divided by 4, the remainder is 2.When the same number is divided by 5, the remainder is 3. If the number is less than 21, find the number.

2) Nancy is 12 years older than Jack. 5 years ago, the sum of their ages was 44 years old.How old is Jack now?

3) After using 220 litres of paint, Melvin had 190 litres of paint left.How much did he pay for all the paint if he paid $7 per litres?

4) When I buy some pens at $4 each, I have $3 left.When I buy some pens at $5 each with the same amount of money, I have no money left. If I have less than $30, how much money do I have?

5) David paid $2404 for some chairs.34 of them cost $56 each. The rest cost $50.How many 50-dollar chairs did he buy?

Giving a radio announcement (Have fun practising it at home!)

A radio announcement giving information about a contest.

And now, here's the news about our latest competition. You won't believe what we are offering you this month. As this is International Year of the Family, you have a chance to win a wonderful family holiday in Gold Coast. All you have to do is take a photograph which shows family life and write a short paragraph about it. It could be children with their parents or their grandparents.

The lucky winner has the chance to spend two weeks in Gold Coast. That's two weeks of beautiful beaches, sunshine, plenty for everyone to do. So send us your photograph, in colour or black and white, and the short write-up by 31st August. That's the closing date for entries. We will be announcing the winner on 9th September.


Tips:

- Do try to sound excited when reading the above so as to attract the attention of your audience. :)

- Have appropriate pauses when it come to important information.

The Melting Pot (Social Studies Project)

Below are the details for your Social Studies Project. Enjoy!

Create a scrapbook on The Melting Pot!!!

Your Plan:
To set up a new restaurant named The Melting Pot, which serves fusion food, a combination of flavours from different ethnic groups in Singapore.

Part 1: Fusion Uniform of Waiters and Waitresses
... think of a way to put it inside the scapbook

Using the given paper dolls, design a set of uniform (male and female)
which includes a mixture of styles from different cultures.

Part 2: Fusion Food (Recipe)
... to be done on the scrapbook

- Design at least a dish that combines flavours of the different ethnic groups in Singapore.
- List the ingredients, describe the methods of cooking, and provide an illustration of how the food will look like.

Last but not least, each group will have to:

(Total - 40 marks)
- Present the project to the class (20 marks)

---> Language (Try to use your own words)

- Creativity (10 marks)

- Content (10 marks)


Last but not least, please do not bring your finished product and offer it to Mr Ang. Have mercy on him please! :(
